As part of its sustainability strategy, Kalenborn relies on its own electrical energy in its companies, which is generated from the conversion of sunlight via photovoltaic systems. In addition to the photovoltaic system at the site in Hungary, the company invested in a photovoltaic system at the site in Germany.
The energy generated is used to produce the wear-resistant high-performance concrete KALCRET and for charging the e-cars.
On an area of 815 m², a specialist company for regenerative energies installed a PV system with a total of 420 solar watt panels on the roof of the warehouse. It delivers a total output of 170 kW/p (kilowatt peak) per year, which corresponds to an output of about 170,000 kWh of electricity (kilowatt hours). The monocrystalline PERC high-performance solar cells were produced on state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment and meet a very high-quality standard.
The challenge in awarding the contract was to implement the project in a timely manner. Furthermore, some earthworks had to be carried out for the sub-distribution and electrical connections of the PV system. The electricity supplier has connected Kalenborn so that its own electricity can flow.
